The 2026 CHCS AGM will be held online via Google Meet on September 19, 2026 at 9:00 AM PT.
Mark your calendars for September 26–27, 2026, and join fellow Highland members for The Kyloe Drive Weekend, the Canadian Highland Cattle Society's annual gathering. Hosted in beautiful Prince Edward Island, this weekend offers a unique opportunity to connect with members from across the country while experiencing some of the Island's agricultural industries.
Registration is $175 for CHCS members and $200 for non-members.
The weekend will feature a variety of educational and social experiences, including a farm tour of Catchgate Highland Fold, hosted by Alice & Andrew Dixon, where attendees will enjoy lunch while learning about their Highland cattle operation.
Participants will also take part in a Beef Cattle Management Education Seminar, providing valuable insights and practical information for breeders and producers.
Saturday evening will feature a traditional PEI dining experience at New Glasgow Lobster Suppers, where guests can enjoy Island favourites including fresh mussels, seafood chowder, lobster, and more.
Beyond Highland cattle, attendees will discover the diversity of Prince Edward Island agriculture with a guided tour of Deep Roots Orchard & Distillery, where they will learn about apple production, distillation, value-added agriculture, and business diversification on PEI.
No visit to Prince Edward Island would be complete without experiencing the Island's renowned aquaculture industry. Guests will enjoy a tour of Brackley Bay Oyster Company, including an interactive oyster shucking session and an opportunity to learn firsthand about oyster farming and harvesting.
The weekend also includes free time in the picturesque village of Victoria-by-the-Sea, allowing attendees to explore local shops, galleries, and waterfront attractions while choosing from a variety of lunch options (on your own) to suit both seafood lovers and those who prefer land-based fare.
Bussing from the hotel to the various locations will be provided. Whether you're a long-time breeder or a new member The Kyloe Drive Weekend promises an enjoyable blend of education, fellowship, and Island hospitality.

Our Bylaws received official approval from the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, effective March 27, 2026.
We encourage you to look through them, if you haven’t already. There are several changes to be aware of, especially in regards to registering animals.
The CHCS Bylaw Committee has taken feedback from the membership, board and general public and drafted some minor changes to the Bylaws.
CHCS members will be able to vote on each of these proposed changes at our Annual General Meeting on September 19, 2026.

Suspensions & Expulsions
We have provided a list of those have either been suspended or expelled from the Society and have lost the right to register and transfer purebred Highland cattle in Canada.
Please note that there are specific rules that must be followed when registering and transferring Highland cattle in Canada. A full description of requirements can be found in our Bylaws (Section 8) here:
Only the owner or lessee of the dam at birth can register an animal - a buyer cannot, under any circumstances.
Similarly, only the registered owner of an animal can transfer registration papers to a buyer. And must do so within 6 months of the sale at the seller’s expense. If a purebred animal is to be sold without papers, it must be done so in writing – otherwise it is a contravention of both the CHCS Bylaws and the Animal Pedigree Act.
It is the responsibility of both the seller and the buyer to verify that tattoos are legible and match all documentation.
